New Order / Revenge - 'Off The Wall', Super Channel (December 1989)
Просмотров 4954 года назад
This is a short interview with Hooky and CJ, where the former talks about both 'World In Motion' and his 'Revenge' side-project. This programme was shown on both 'Super Channel' (satellite TV) and ITV. I don't have the date for the showing on 'Super Channel', which this recording is taken from, but it was broadcast on ITV on 13/12/89. Many thanks to 'Robin' for sending me this video. If anyone ...
New Order XPO, April 1993

I uploaded this before but had to make a couple of edits. All four band members were interviewed in Rome in April 1993 at the time of 'Regret'. Anybody know the exact date this was broadcast? Forgive the poor quality. This was transferred from an old VHS tape.
New Order Sunday - Hosting MTV 16/05/93

Snippets from New Order when the band hosted MTV Europe on 'New Order Sunday' 16/05/93. I've sourced this from two different videos to try to make this as complete as possible (minus the videos, of course). One of the sources is direct from my VHS tape recorded back in the day, with the other coming from someone else's source (not sure who's). It's mostly complete but there are a couple of word...
Electronic (New Order, The Smiths) - Brief news clip 09/96

This is a 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' interview with Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr from the 'weekend edition' of 'MTV News'. I'm assuming that this is taken from a longer interview which must have been broadcast at some point, although I've never seen this. Anyone have more of this interview? Forgive the poor quality transfer (degraded VHS).

Bernard Sumner & Johnny Marr discuss various things, including Karl Bartos, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. Forgive the poor sound quality of this. I've no idea if I taped this myself or was given a copy (I suspect the former, but I have no memory of this). Looks like I might have missed the very beginning of the programme too. Sorry!
Revenge (New Order, Peter Hook) - 'The Big Trip' (S2) End Credits (21/08/95)

This programme seems to be almost forgotten about. The music in the end titles was composed by Peter Hook and David Potts, and credited to 'Revenge, although by this point, they were pretty much 'Monaco'. In fact, I believe this song was reworked, called 'Junk' and featured on the first 'Monaco' LP, 'Music For Pleasure'. I have the end credits to series 3 too, but the music was the same so I wo...
New Order - 'Close Up North - Pop Double Top', 03/95

Bit of a rarity this, I think. A regional TV programme, I believe. As I don't live in the North West, didn't tape this myself. I was probably given a copy by my old friend, David (cheers for that). Tony Wilson talks about Manchester music. Meanwhile Peter Hook and Mr Robert Leo Gretton eat breakfast... Enjoy!
New Order - CompuServe band 'hook-up' news article (04/06/94)
Просмотров 1354 года назад
This is a bit of an historical curiosity. It's a news article promoting the live Q&A with the band that was hosted on CompuServe on 04/06/94. I wasn't 'hooked up' to CompuServe back in the 1990s, so don't really know what this would've looked like. Seems strange to think of a time before the internet (as we know it nowadays) existed. This was from 'The Coca-Cola Report'. Forgive the very poor q...

The Other Two (New Order) - 2nd interview from 'First Look', MTV Europe, 27/11/93

Another clip from the same MTV Europe 'The Other Two' interview as my previous upload. This clip was featured when 'First Look' featured the release on 'The Other Two & You' LP (the first clip was when the 'Selfish' single was released). I believe this was from the programme broadcast on 27/11/19, but am not 100% on this. Forgive the poor quality transfer (it's the best I've got!).

Interview with The Other Two (Stephen Morris & Gillian Gilbert) on MTV's 'First Look', dating from 23/10/93 (I think!). The two of them are interviewed on the set of the 'Selfish' interview. Barney and Hooky make very brief appearances, with a couple of snippets from the Rome interview that MTV kept using every time they had something New Order-y to report. I've edited out the 'Selfish' video, ...

Interview with the whole band in May / June 1993 (not sure of exact date, but think it happened a few days after the 'New Order Sunday' event held on MTV Europe on 16/05/93). The band talked a little about themselves (Bernard seems quite guarded though) and took the time to choose videos by bands they wanted to see (edited out of my video though, to avoid problems). The band don't seem particul...

Another interview with Electronic (Bernard Sumner of New Order & Johnny Marr of The Smiths). Most of these Electronic interview all appear to come from the same source, but differ quite a bit in places. This is from the 'Vivid' programme, which I think was on a satellite TV channel. Epic work!
Glad you liked! Thanks for commenting.
This man did so much for Manchester and the uk music culture. Sad he’s gone. An original.
Man, that was a really great album! So happy to see some clips that I couldn't see at the time because I was in rural America.
Eeeeeeewwww the naaaaattttseeees!!!!!” Tired then, tired now.
Totally dig!
They were already in their late 30s in 93 but kinda at the height of their fame
Well said Stuart Cosgrove
I saw Tony last year near Macclesfield. Got his autograph. He couldn't stop laughing. What a lovely fella.
Last year?Tony Wilson died in 2007.
Thanks for this. After trying to figure them out for nearly 40 years, I learned the lyrics are from Psalm 77 through this awesome cover of the song: ruclips.net/video/dGgmOec8sA0/видео.html
Glad you liked. Yep - that cover is great. Incidentally, he got the lyrics from this video and very kindly credited my help in the intro text to his video.
@@perspexorange Ha, silly me. I should have realised that, 'cause I did read that intro text. In that case: thanks for finding the Psalm refrence!
@@FabianVanL No problem! 🙂
Who's the gobby Scottish bloke???
Don't know, but he's the only one with a brain, and who doesn't think the sun shines out of his own well-used ar&e hole.
We need more people like Tony Wilson. Someone with vision, integrity and the money to really champion working class, independent movements
Do you at all have the Rapido interview that was deleted?
Sweet Jesus, these people are so self-important, it's hilarious.
Stuart's not, but the other two are jokes
well charlied up
The last point he makes in this video (from 5:30 to 6:03) about the rave scene moving on and transforming from a live scene into iconic albums was absolutely true and prophetic. So many amazing British albums were released in 1991, and those albums far eclipsed the raves themselves.
Agreed. Wilson was a visionary. A lynchpin in British music history.
The true is :new order is the opost of joy division, but new order born from Joy Division!why😮😅
my grandad met him as he was doing an electrical job at granada and all he said was “he was a miserable git”
Hooky, during his 'Off his tits' phase.
Stephen is actually pretty good at presenting
Tony was a good friend of mine and was always a gentleman.. I miss him very much. He had me sing on a Durutti Column single.. we covered White Rabbit
Would have loved to have met him. He seemed like a very clued-up guy and a visionary. We have a lot to thank him for.
Awkward interview.
Cosgrove is still a tosser to this day.
They are just tired and hungover, the openly have stated that they did lots of drugs and alcohol during their time.
Back when rossy used to actually question his guests
Especially interesting and awkward ones.
Bowie didn't give a fascist salute at Victoria Station, photographs and film from the day show prove that. But NME, for whom Cosgrove worked later on, chose to print images where it looked like he might be. Another instance of the UK music press whipping up controversy where there was none.
All the papers, and the tabloids, printed the same programmes, not to mention Bowie's professed 'admiration' (no matter how qualified. Go fanboy somewhere else and face reality.
@@Spectrescup Considering there's actually footage from Victoria Station that shows him merely waving to the (unexpectedly large) crowd of fans, I'm afraid it appears you're mistaken. Shuffle off and spit your venom elsewhere, ducky.
He forgot to say the less Hooky and Stephen are involved, the more I enjoyed 😂

@glenndouglas8822 Ah... that is, "the Hacienda must be built" The Sound 5 track adds the "Re:" It is a play on the book's words, of course. Whitworth Street was my home between '89-92. The Hacienda my church (along with Stuffed Olive's) - Always play the Soul Mechanik remix 😉 ☮️💚🏡🎵♾️

Thanks for this. My first show! New Order, PIL, Sugarcubes
This guy was a genius.
Stephen could be a stand up comic if this drummer thing doesn't work out for him 😂😂
Stephen is the one who has the brilliant mind and is always full of ideas. The decline of New Order soon set in, when Bernard ignored Stephen and Hooky and relegated them to backing musicians.
Regret = Normality... interesting
Gaywad
Said the Gaywad😀
Oasis were practicing at the boardwalk while this was being filmed, Factory refused to sign them I think. Tony said things in Manchester were quietening down. The biggest band in the 90's was brewing in the background
Yes but the ‘Manchester scene’ was over by the time they were signed by Creation in ‘93. Oasis were not part of that scene, it had quietened down and Noel has said that’s why he moved to London in ‘94. Oasis were part of the mid 90’s ‘Britpop’ scene which was centred in London. Liam moved there too not long afterwards.
Tony holding his own here against a changing culture of left wing media sheeple.
He shouted for significant bands before they became ICONS and a great club, but in the end, he was a rich, spoilt, entitled guy from the wealthy class who ached for 'street-cred' by associating with the Working Class, which in a settled Class System like England was akin to HERESY to normal, average thinking/acceptance
I’ve just seen god and he looked like me
💙LOVE💙
My only personal encounter with Tony was seeing him in Piccadilly one afternoon. He was about to walk into a dry cleaners. I was a kid with a few mates and on seeing him we shouted his name. The distraction made him trip and pretty much faceplant the door 🙈 Hilarious at the time, _sorry Tony_ 🙄🙏 lol
Chalk and cheese. Ross wasn't fit to lace his boots.
Funny listening to this after to reading Hooky’s book
